Workshops at Hazel Stark StudioI am hosting a series of workshops in my new Peckham studio. I have asked some of my favourite designers to collaborate with me in designing objects that have elements of their unique process and aesthetic and yet are easily achieved within 3 hours by anyone fuelled by coffee and cake.
This Abstract Mobile workshop will be a three hour long class in designing, cutting and making your own abstract mobile using card, found objects, wood and wire led by Debbie Powell.
The workshop will cover designing your mobile, using pre-printed card, wire, wood and found objects to compose your own arrangement. We will cut and construct the elements, learning from Debbie how to join and balance the pieces to create a refined and elegant mobile.
Debbie Powell’s work crosses a number of mediums and outcomes, from pencil drawings to paintings and brass mobiles to pottery. There is a sensibility and aesthetic that Debbie has made her own which is evident throughout her impressive body of work. Inspirations from nature and the world around her are evident in her delicate use of natural forms and harmonious colours. As well as making mobiles, Debbie works on the family collective Rah and Rah along side her sister Sarah and father Ron.
The photos show hand cut metal mobiles Debbie has made using similar methods that will be used in making the abstract mobiles.
Refreshments will be served by your host and assistant for the workshop, Hazel Stark. Allpress filter coffee, Ali Baba juices, a selection of nice teas and homemade cakes will be plentiful. (inc. gluten and dairy free)
All materials are provided. Booking is essential as we have limited space.

Nothing But Navy opened yesterday and it’s bloody great. I’m a huge fan of navy and so I’m like a pig in poo.
Plenty of lovely stuff to buy including Fine Little Day chopping boards, Falcon enamelware and some limited edition stuff I’ve made. My Watercolour cushion (pictured), Watercolour ceramics and Tiny Planters, which you can see more of over here.

I’ve made some new work for NBN, I’ve printed cushions, tea towels and have made some navy heavy ceramics. I can’t wait to reveal the results of my new hand-built pottery obsession!

The last NBN pop-up was in Stroud, this show is right on my doorstep, hurray. There’s a small selection online too.

The online shop is re-stocked and with the last of the Harlequin and Folded Ribbon cushions, a few of Giant Paper Chains and Huge Cards, ALL on SALE!!!

Get them while you can…

Had a fab weekend at the Renegade Fair, met loads of great people including the rather cheeky Renegade gang who sucessfully taught me a good-security-practice lesson by hiding a pile of my cushions! What a fantastically cheery and patient bunch, come back soon please.
Thanks all the fellow stall holders, bloggers, shop/gallery owners and lovely customers for all your kind words, support and purchases!
